The Divine Universal Law of the Five Elements Theory | Tao Hands

The Five Elements Theory is the Second Divine Universal Law given to Master Sha (following the Universal Law of Yin Yang) and is also revealed in the authoritative book of traditional Chinese medicine. The Five Elements are: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. They represent the five natures found throughout all universes.

Everything can be divided and classified into the Five Elements, including weather, seasons, direction, color, and more, including all aspects of the human body, such as the organs, tissues, fluids, senses, and emotions. Each can be identified as belonging primarily to a particular element.

To balance the Five Elements is to balance everything. To balance the Five Elements in the body is to maintain optimum health.

The Five Elements are related and interact in four main ways:
  • Generating
  • Controlling
  • Overcontrolling
  • Reverse Controlling.
The generating relationship can be understood as a mother-son relationship. The mother gives birth to the son. The mother generates and nourishes the son. The Five Elements are related via the following mother-son pairs:
  • Wood produces (is the mother of) Fire.
  • Fire produces Earth.
  • Earth produces Metal.
  • Metal produces Water.
  • Water produces Wood.
These relationships can be seen in the natural world, where wood ignites to start a fire, a fire produces ash, earth can be minded for metal, metal carries water (as in a bucket or a pipe), and plants grow from spring rain.

The lead (Yin) organs for the Five Elements are: Liver for Wood Element, Heart for Fire Element, Spleen for Earth Element, Lungs for Metal Element, and Kidneys for Water Element.

Therefore, a healthy liver can fully nourish the heart, a healthy heart can fully nourish the spleen, a healthy spleen can fully nourish the lungs, and healthy lungs can fully nourish the kidneys, and healthy kidneys can fully nourish the liver.

The controlling relationship shows the order of dominance among the Five Elements:
  • Wood controls Earth.
  • Earth controls Metal.
  • Water controls Fire.
  • Fire controls Metal.
  • Metal controls Wood.
In the natural world, wood draws nutrients from earth, earth dams water, water puts out fire, fire melts metal, and metal chops wood.

There are also the overcontrolling and reverse controlling relationships that describe various imbalances and pathological conditions in the organs of he body. These are caused by soul, heart, mind and body blockages.

We are most interested in learning practices and receiving blessings that can help us maintain soul,  heart, mind and body alignment and balance in the Five Elements. The Tao Hands program begins with the Soul Mind Body Alignment Program and proceeds to Tao Hands training and certification. Both programs teach practices and techniques to balance and align the soul, heart, mind and body. The Five Element Theory is a guide for us to apply the techniques and balance the soul, heart, mind and body.

We will be taking each Element, one by one, and sharing 1) key aspects of the Element, 2) how imbalances in the Elements can create emotional disturbances, and 3) what we can do to balance them.

We look forward to seeing you in our next blog, which will focus on "Letting Go of Anger - Balancing the Wood Element". We will talk about anger in our lives and how we can balance our Wood Element to balance the emotion of anger with patience.

Thank you for tuning in to this introductory blog to learn about the Five Elements theory and framework. This material was taken from the Divine Soul Songs Book written by Master Sha (Dr. Zhi Gang Sha).

With love,

Your Tao Hands Team
