Finding Happy | Giving and Kindness | Tao Hands

The benefits of giving are well supported. Whether one gives money, time, support, or just a smile, research consistently shows positive benefits for the giver, including greater happiness.

It has been found that when people give to charities, for example, it activates parts of the brain associated with pleasure, social connection and trust. And Harvard researchers found that giving funds to someone else lifted people's spirits more than spending it on themselves.

Volunteering one's time and energy is another form of giving and is consistently associated with improved health and longevity, even in the sick and elderly. Its even found that giving your time to someone in need expands not just your happiness, but your perception of the amount of time you have (as in greater time abundance)!

It is found that giving invokes gratitude and is contagious. How many times have you wanted to "give back"?

Why Giving Makes Us Happy
From our perspective, one of the reasons why giving is such a powerful contributor to happiness is that it takes us down the path of service, which is our true purpose. Therefore, it helps us discover who we truly are. To give of ourselves moves us away from "the little me" and brings us into alignment with "the real or true me". That brings joy, happiness, health, vitality and more.

If you have not found the joy of giving yet, or if you have but haven't put it into action lately, we are encouraging you to do so.

If you need a little help, the key, as with anything in life, is to practice. Like gratitude and happiness, which can be learned with practice, so can giving. We can learn various levels of giving, depending on our time, our preferences and more. But we can always give!

Make a Commitment to Give or Be Kind Daily
So the suggestion is to give kindly and regularly. If you're not ready for a long term commitment, maybe you can try a 21 day giving or kindness challenge. Make a conscious choice to be kind or to give something to a person or persons, an animal or animals, a community or Mother Earth, etc., everyday. The act could be something tangible and physical, like food, clothing, money, gifts, etc. or it could be a prayer or a blessing. Something specifically for this commitment though. Maybe something for someone you wouldn't or haven't ordinarily served in that way.

You can chant. You can offer blessings. You can send a thank you note, or call someone to tell them how much you care. There are so many options! And once we get started, there is no limit! Imagine how simple acts of kindness and giving will make someone happier everyday, including you!

Support your commitment with Soulfulness practices to bless yourself and remove obstacles to the joys of regular kindness and giving. You can chant a Soul Order such as:

Soul Orders my heart and mind to awaken (or further awaken) to the joys of giving and kindness.

Soon, giving will be part of the fabric of your being. You will have grown, changed and expanded, having discovered one of the keys to alignment with the universe.

We hope you are pleased!

Thank you so much.

With our greatest love,

Tao Hands Team.
